Rodrigo Gracie was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, son of Jiu-Jitsu Grandmaster Reylson Gracie and grandson of the founder of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Carlos Gracie. He started training when he was only 4 years old; at the age of 7 he participated in one of his father's internal championships
and won his first jiu-jitsu fight. Rodrigo began teaching Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 14 and was awarded the black belt at the age of 18 under his father. He then came to the United States to teach at his father's academy in California. A few years later, he went to New York City
to train and work with his cousin Renzo Gracie. (Because Renzo's system of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu had a different focus than his father's,
Rodrigo decided to begin his training at the brown belt level and soon after, he was awarded the black belt under Renzo. Since then, Rodrigo exploded on to the fight scene after being the first person to submit Daijiro Matsui in Pride 19. Rodrigo
proved that he is a Renzo Gracie black belt with a mean punch. He is not only a fierce competitor but also a compassionate teacher.
He has been teaching his knowledge to others and currently has his own school in Long Island, New York.To find out more about him

backing down. Besides his explosive takedowns, his high energy makes him one of the most exciting people to watch. There are a lot of people out there with
the nickname "Crazy" but very few of them deserve it. Chris, with out a doubt, deserves the nickname.
